Books: OV104 - Grief Behind Bars
by Rev. Dan Newman, Ph.D., DD
A new book that looks at grieving for families, inmates, professionals and those on death row.
The author exposes a hidden world of grief. On death row, everything the author learned about bereavement counseling wasn't enough. Grieving began at sentencing, but then grief came in reverse. Newman reflects on just how different loss can be on death row. Inmates and their families aren't allowed to grieve, according to Newman. “It all goes back to a the idea that 'they got what they deserved,' – a lack of social acceptance." This is a book that explains grief without judgment.
